Importing Data in Microsoft CRM Dynamics 2015

Your data is stored in spreadsheets, databases, or other systems, you’ll probably want to import all the data into Microsoft Dynamics CRM so you can keep track of all your customer information in one single place.

You can import any type of information, such as accounts,customers, leads or opportunities etc.

Here i am showing you the import process of Leads.

This blog demonstrate the Import process involved in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015.

1.    Getting the required Template from System.
You’ll require the template to make your source file Import Ready. As Microsoft Dynamics CRM accepts a specified type and structure of source file to import data.

First, Go to Sales – Leads and download the Template.

It will look like this xml file containing all the important fields and the information about the data type     of the fields i.e Topic, First Name, Last Name, Email etc.

This file will work as a blueprint for your Import Source file.

2.    Prepare your CSV file.
I.    Give your source file name as “Lead.csv”
II.    Add respective collumn headings as described in Leads Template.

It will Look Like,

Now it’s ready to Import.

3.    Import Wizard
Now, navigate yourself to Sales – Leads and click on Import Data.

After clicking on Import Data, following screen will get appear

Now Click on Choose File and browse your Lead.csv file and then click Next.

Set the Delimiter Options and also Check “First row contains column headings”
Once all set , click on Next.

Select Default (Automatic Mapping) so that we can map the fields and Module will be taken automatically as per the file name.
Then click on Next, You’ll see the following screen.

Click on Next,

Then you will see Review Mapping Summary, Review It and again click on Next.

-Select “No” in allow Duplicated (It will automatically filter duplicate records while Importing)
-Select Owner for the Imported records ( Default it will be the Importer User)
– You can also provide Data Map name (Optional)

Finally, Click on Submit.
And then Finish.

Leads will get Imported in the system.

4.     Check All Imports
To check all imports, Navigate to Settings – Data Management – Imports

There you can manage all of your Imports.
